Philadelphia, PA- The
Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team (4-4, 4-1 CACC)
handed Chestnut Hill College (5-3, 2-1 CACC) a 25-7 loss in a
Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Saturday
afternoon. PhilaU sophomore midfielder Michelle
O'Hanlon (Springfield, PA/ Springfield) led all scorers
with four goals and two assists.
The Lady Rams outscored Chestnut Hill 48-26, and jumped out to a
15-4 advantage at halftime.
PhilaU freshmen attacker Taylor Peltzer
(Holland, PA/ Archbishop Wood) ignited Lady Ram offense with a goal
just 12 seconds into play, as she would score all three of her
goals in the first half. CHC's Katie Donovan would tie it 1-1
at 26:23, but PhilaU's O'Hanlon and senior attacker Sarah
Davis (Dublin, OH/ Dublin Scioto) notched goals to make it
3-1.
The Griffins would net three more goals in the half to PhilaU's
12 as Davis' free position score at 15:31 would turn out to be the
eventual game-winner. Davis had three goals on the day.
The Lady Rams surged ahead by as many as 19 at 25-6 on freshman
attacker Kelsey Gavigan's (Cape May, NJ/ L. Cape
May) goal at 7:08 remaining in the second half, as PhilaU pulled
away with the 25-7 conference win.
Sophomores Jennifer Sica (Long Valley, NJ/ W.
Morris Central) and Kelly Dallas (Cherry Hill, NJ/
Cherry Hill East) both added three goals in the win for PhilaU.
PhilaU junior goalie Katherine Sullivan (Mt.
Laurel, NJ/ Lenape) had 10 saves in the win, while CHC keeper Rosie
Gavin made 10 stops for the Griffins.
The Lady Rams return to CACC action on Monday, March
30th vs. Holy Family University at 4:30 p.m. at
Ravenhill Field.
