Philadelphia, PA- Five Philadelphia University
women's lacrosse players earned Central Atlantic Collegiate
Conference (CACC) accolades in the league's inaugural season of the
sport. Junior goalie Katherine Sullivan (Mt.
Laurel, NJ/ Lenape) earned the CACC's highest honor- the
'Player of the Year' award.
Sullivan's First Team and 'Player of the Year'
distinctions came as her Lady Ram's held a 7-2 record while the New
Jersey native was in goal. She was ranked seventh in the
nation in save percentage (third in the CACC) with a .511
average. Sullivan also ranked 10th in the NCAA in
saves per game average with 11.93 per game (fifth in the CACC) and
held a CACC third-best goals against average (11.44).
Other Lady Rams honored on the first team included sophomore
midfielder Michelle O'Hanlon (Springfield, PA/
Springfield)- who led the team in points (39) and freshman
midfielder Taylor Peltzer (Holland, PA/ Archbishop
Wood) who was one of only two rookies to make the team.
Making an appearance on the Second Team was freshman midfielder
Caribeth Shappell (Lancaster, PA/ Cocalico) and on
the 'Honorable Mention' list was junior attacker
Lauren Woodie (Monmouth Beach, NJ/ Shore
Regional).
The PhilaU squad hosts their final regular season game today
(4/23) vs. Dominican at 4:30 p.m. before heading to Georgian Court
University for the CACC Championships over the weekend.
