Caribeth Shappell (Lancaster, PA/ Cocalico)
notched four points, but it wasn't enough as Philadelphia
University 1-2, 1-0 CACC) slipped 11-9 to the Molloy College Lions
(3-0) in women's lacrosse at Ravenhill Field on Monday
afternoon.
The match was tightly contested, as Shappell gave the Lady Rams
their biggest lead of the game 3-1 at 18:09 in the first
half. Sophomore attacker Taylor Peltzer
(Holland, PA/ Archbishop Wood) knocked down a goal with 30 seconds
remaining in the first to put PhilaU up 5-4 at the break.
Peltzer had a hat trick on the day.
Molloy opened the second period on a 3-0 run to take a 7-5
advantage, helped by Kristie Sosnowski who had a team-high four
points in the game. Peltzer notched another score to cut the
MC lead to one (9-8) at 8:53, but the Lions would put it away with
two more goals.
PhilaU senior goalie Kat Sullivan (Mt. Laurel,
NJ/ Lenape) had 13 saves in 60 minutes of work, while MC's
Jackie Bove made eight stops.
