Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University
Lady Rams (7-5, 6-2 CACC) put an end to their two-game losing skid
with a convincing 17-11 victory over the Chestnut Hill College
Griffins (4-8, 3-6 CACC) on Thursday afternoon at Ravenhill
Field. PhilaU senior midfielder Kathleen
Maurer (Rochester, NY/ Our Lady of Mercy) showed no mercy
in racking up a game-high eight points (3 G, 5 A).
Maurer tallied five points in the first half alone, including
the first score in the game just 30 seconds in. CHC's
Carly Glass led her squad with three first half goals, making it
close until the Lady Rams went on a 7-0 run, keeping the Griffins
scoreless for twenty minutes. C.Glass led the Griffs with
seven points on the day.
PhilaU led 9-5 at the half.
The Griffins started off the second stanza on a 3-0 roll,
closing the gap 9-8- but PhilaU launched a 7-0 attacked to regain
the lead for good. PhilaU sophomore midfielder Kalin
Hodel (West Chester, OH/ Lakota West) notched the
game-winner at 17:52 at 12-8. She had two goals in the game.
Lady Ram sophomore attacker Taylor Peltzer
(Holland, PA/ Archbishop Wood) also had a solid outing, netting
four goals.
PhilaU senior goalie Kat Sullivan (Mt. Laurel,
NJ/ Lenape) had 17 saves in the contest, while Cherise Bell made
eight stops for CHC.
The maroon and gray return to action on Saturday (4/17) when
they travel to Georgian Court University for a 12:00 p.m. start in
a rematch of last year's conference championship.
