Philadelphia, PA- In their first game under the
lights this season, the Philadelphia University Lady Rams (7-8, 6-4
CACC) fell short 10-8 in a loss to the Chestnut Hill College
Griffins (5-11, 4-8 CACC) on Thursday evening. PhilaU was led
offensively by senior midfielder Kathleen Maurer
(Rochester, NY/ Our Lady of Mercy) and junior attacker
Taylor Boyle (Wilton, CT/ Wilton) with three goals
each.
The Lady Rams were outshot 33-20 on the night.
PhilaU stayed ahead for most of the first half until CHC's
Carley Glass tied it at 4-4 on a free position shot with 4:21
remaining in the period.
The Griffins then went on a 5-0 run to start the second half,
helped by three of Maryanne Glass's game-high four goals in
the match.
A Maurer goal at 13:41 would finally break the Lady Ram's
silence, and the visitors added three Boyle goals to close out the
night, but it would be too little, too late as PhilaU fell 10-8.
PhilaU senior goalie Kat Sullivan (Mt. Laurel,
NJ/ Lenape) made 19 saves, while CHC's Cherise Bell had four
stops.
The maroon and gray return to action on Saturday (4/24) at Holy
Family at noon.
