Philadelphia, PA- The
Philadelphia University Lady Rams (7-10, 6-6 CACC) fell 18-8 to the
Georgian Court University Lions (15-2, 12-0 CACC) on Tuesday
afternoon at Ravenhill Field. The loss gives PhilaU the #4
seed in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC)
Tournament, where they will again face #1 seed GCU on Saturday
(5/1) at 1:00 p.m., hosted by GCU.
While the Lady Rams were outshot
33-22 for the game, they stayed close to start things off as goals
by sophomore Kalin Hodel (West Chester, OH/ Lakota
West) and rookie Kelly Morgan (Zionsville, PA/
Emmaus) made it 2-2 just seven minutes into action. Both Lady Rams had two scores on
the day.
GCU was ledy by Natalie Bermudez with four
goals.
GCU
went on a 4-0 run from there, yet Hodel and sophomore attacker
Taylor Peltzer (Holland, PA/ Archbishop Wood)
added two more goals to trail 6-4 with 9:26 to go in the first
half. The Lions came
up with nine unanswered goals that spanned half way into the second
half to gain control and eventually the win.
PhilaU trailed
9-4 at the half, waiting over 20 minutes into the second half to
score (on a Peltzer free position shot) at 9:55. The Lions managed to keep a
running clock for most of the second stanza, and PhilaU fell 18-8
when all was said and done.
PhilaU senior
goalie Kat Sullivan (Mt. Laurel, NJ/ Lenape) made
10 saves in the complete game, while GCU's Christine Latteri
also made 10 stops and was relieved by Jill Pennington with five
minutes to go.
