Hodel Leads Lacrosse in 24-8 Dissection of Post

Philadelphia, PA- A stellar outing from Philadelphia University junior midfielder Kalin Hodel (six goals, one assist) helped the Rams (4-4, 4-1 CACC) disseminate the Post University Eagles (1-7, 0-5 CACC) 24-8 on Saturday afternoon at Ravenhill Field.

Hodel, along with PhilaU junior middie Caribeth Shappell (four goals, two assists) led the Rams with seven points each.

Post's offensive leader, Stephanie Marran, notched the game's first goal just a few seconds into the first half, but PhilaU rookie middie Melissa Styer tied it at 1-1 with 27:46 remaining.  Hodel put in the eventual game-winner at 26:11 to make it 2-1, assisted by freshman attacker Rebecca Baker (who scored her first two collegiate goals on the day).

The Rams would go on to outscore the birds 15-4 for the rest of the half, leading 17-5 at the break.

In the second half, PhilaU freshman attacker Emily Ray picked up two of her four goals and the Rams ran away with a 24-8 victory when the dust settled.

In goal, PhilaU freshman keeper Cory Lombardo started the contest and saw 11 minutes of action, while fellow rookie goalie Maggie McCanney came in for the remaining 49 ticks and picked up one save.  Post's Jacquelline Jolles had 15 saves in the loss.

PhilaU travels to St. Thomas Aquinas College on Sunday (4/3) for a 12 p.m. non-conference rumble.
