Box Score PHILADELPHIA – Senior forward Kristen Blye (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown E.) and sophomore guard Najah Jacobs (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) combined to score 43 points to help the Philadelphia University women's basketball team close the regular season with a 73-53 win over Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Chestnut Hill on Senior Night Tuesday in the Gallagher Center.
Blye, who was honored before the game along with senior guard Taylor Peltzer (Holland, Pa./Archbishop Wood), poured in a game-high 22 points and grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season.
Jacobs shot 7-of-12 from the field, 4-of-4 from three-point range, to net a career-high 21 points.
Peltzer was also in double-figures for the Rams with 11 points to go with eight rebounds.
Philadelphia wrapped up the regular season at 14-12 overall and 10-9 in the CACC. The Rams came in fourth in the southern division and will travel to northern division champion Caldwell for the quarterfinal round of the CACC Championship Tournament on Saturday, March 2 at 2 p.m.
The Rams opened up the game by scoring the first six points of the game on a basket from Blye, Jacobs, and Peltzer.
Behind eight of Annie Farrow's 14 points, the Griffins (6-20, 4-15 CACC) put together a 13-6 run to take their first lead of the game at 13-12.
After swapping the lead seven times during a 5:34 stretch, Olivia Gorcynski drained a three-pointer to give Chestnut Hill a 32-27 lead with 6:03 left in the first half. Trailing 34-27, Philadelphia outscored Chestnut Hill 10-2 over the final 5:37 to take a 37-36 lead at the break.
The Rams broke the game wide open in the second half as it snapped a 40-all tie with a 15-2 run and took a 55-42 lead with 12:46 left to play. Peltzer led the charge, which has five different Rams contribute, with five points.
A late 10-0 spurt pushed the Rams' lead up to a game-high 20 points at 71-51 with 1:48 left. Blye had seven of the points, while Jacobs scored the other three.
Gorcynski finished with 16 points for Chestnut Hill, all of them in the first half, while Lindsey Alexander grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds.
Philadelphia shot 41.8 percent (28-of-67) from the field and 50.0 percent (6-of-12) from behind the arc. The Griffins hit 31.1 percent (23-of-74) of their shots, including 20.0 percent (5-of-20) of their three-pointers. Chestnut Hill outrebounded Philadelphia, 48-42.
