Second-half surge carries men's soccer past Felician 5-2

LYNDHURST, N.J. – Three second-half goals in a span of 12:11 carried the Philadelphia University men's soccer team to a 5-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over Felician Saturday night at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.

Philadelphia improves to 6-3-3 overall and 4-2-1 in the CACC. The Rams have won their last three matches, scoring 13 goals during the streak.

Felician dips to 2-10-0 overall, 1-7-0 against the conference.

With the match tied at 1, Ishmaiah Calwrie (Baltimore, Md./Randallstown) received a through ball from Cesar Romero and beat Felician's John Burns with a shot inside the right post at the 65:21 mark to put Philadelphia in front.

Armando Canela doubled the advantage 3:39 later as he scored from the right side of the penalty area. Chris Kulczytsky played a high cross into the box to assist on Canela's second goal of the year.

Romero got himself into the goal column for the first time this season at 77:32, finding the lower right corner of the net after getting a feed from Seiji Rose.

Felician closed the gap to 4-2 just 29 seconds after Philadelphia went up three on Kenny Monfort's second goal of the contest.

Jason Rocha allowed the Rams to reestablish their three-goal lead with 29 remaining in the contest. It was Rocha's second goal of the evening.

Ben Sauer made one save to record his sixth win of the year (6-3-3). Burns finished with six saves for the Golden Falcons.

Rocha put Philadelphia up 1-0, with an assist from Calwrie, as he found the upper right corner of the Felician goal at the 33:24 mark of the first half.

Monfort tied the score with the first goal of the second half, coming at 58:02.

Philadelphia outshot Felician, 15-7.

The Rams head to Wilmington (Del.) for a CACC contest on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 3:30 p.m.
