Box Score PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's lacrosse team (2-5) defeated the Queens Knights (4-4) on Saturday afternoon from Ravenhill Field by a final of 17-6.
Junior Laura Dunne led the Rams with five goals while senior Kathryn Avanzato had an eight-point game behind seven assists and a goal.
Senior Samantha Ryder notched four goals on the day while sophomore Erin Eckert recorded three goals in the effort to go along with two assists for five points.
Sophomore Sarah von Lange, who had two goals and two assists in the win, put the Rams on the board just over a minute into play. Dunne scored the next two to put the Rams up 3-0 before Queens scored their first, 3-1.
From there, Jefferson scored six-straight goals to go up 9-1 with under five minutes to play in the half. The Knights scored two goals before the break as the Rams held a 9-3 edge after 30 minutes.
Jefferson scored the first three goals on the second half to go up to nine but could not find that 10-goal lead as Queens put together a two-goal rally to trim the Rams lead, 12-5.
After a goal by freshman Camryn Sullivan with 17:11 to play in regulation, Queens scored with 15:38 left with the game in favor of Jefferson, 13-6.
Three more Jefferson goals helped the Rams gain a running clock for the final 10:50 of the contest before tacking on another late goal to win 17-6.
Sophomore Victoria Raimondi (W, 2-3) made 10 saves in goal across 60 minutes of action.
Freshman Erin Campbell had a game-high four groundballs and tied von Lange with four draw controls. von Lange also had three groundballs with a game-high five caused turnovers.
