Women's Lacrosse Puts Up Eight Goals in Second Quarter; Opens CACC Play with Win Against Felician
PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University women's lacrosse (5-2, 1-0) began Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action as they took on Felician University (1-5, 0-1) on Saturday. After over 10 minutes of scoreless action in the first, the Rams put up 12 goals in the next 20 minutes and went onto win 18-5 over the Golden Falcons.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Both defenses began strong with no score happening until the 4:27 mark left in the first quarter. Meaghan Avanzato made a goal to open the floodgates for Jefferson. Iris Gluck, Taylor Hood, and Avanzato all got their shots in the back of the net after the first one to make it 4-0 heading to the second
- The Rams continued their attack with Avanzato hitting three shots in the net while I. Gluck contributed to another that made it 7-0. Kathleen Lopez scored for Felician to get them on the board. Jefferson tacked on five more before the break with Lilly Lutz, Reagan Rogers, Madison Coleman, Ava Sztenderowicz, and Tori LaFalce all getting a goal and turning the game to a 12-1 advantage at the break
- Jefferson continued their attack as two straight Rogers goals with I. Gluck and Taylor Hood in the third had it at 16-1
- Felician went to outscore the Rams in the final quarter as they put up four goals to Jefferson's three. Natalia Ogando and Kayla Fox cut the lead down to 13. I. Gluck and Emily Ryder closed out the Ram attack with their goals. Ogando and Fox put in the final shots as the game finished in favor of Jefferson, 18-5
- Avanzato and I. Gluck had four goals apiece with Rogers adding three and Hood putting up two. Sztenderowicz, Coleman, LaFalce, Ryder, and Lutz all had one each. Kalyn Ammerlaan takes the win with four saves on the day
