Bill Banks, a 2018 Hall of Fame inductee, served as the men’s basketball team’s tri-captain his senior season in 1972-73, a year he was named the team’s most valuable player in his final season of play.
As a junior in 1971-72, Banks led the team with a 20-point scoring average while he was voted a District II Middle Atlantic Conference All-American.
A 6-4 forward, the Philadelphia native was the first Ram to reach 1,000 career points in his first two years of competition. He finished his career with 1,538 points, which still ranks in the top 25 all-time at the school.
Following graduation in 1973, he was the captain of the Gillette USA touring team, traveling to over 40 different countries. He played professional basketball for seven total years across three countries.
Banks went on to spend seven years as an NBA talent scout for the Los Angeles Clippers. He also coached for 15 years in Sweden, which included two championships.
He currently runs international coaching and leadership clinics.
